Yoga for Beginners in Erie, CO

I know firsthand how intimidating yoga can feel when you are new or returning after time away. This feeling isn’t helped by all the misconceptions around what yoga is, or - honestly - by the proliferation of yoga classes, studios, and teachers. I feel the same way coming back to teaching after having taken time off after my youngest was born. It feels like a different world. All of my favorite studios in the area have closed, and I’m not sure what to make of it. Still, I know people are craving in-person community, I know people are still practicing yoga, and I know people are looking for ways to ground and regulate their nervous system in today’s world. So then it becomes about finding the right place, or class, or teaching style for you…which can be overwhelming! Where do you start? I’ve heard a lot of people say in the last couple months: I used to practice and am looking for a way back. For those people, and for folks who have never stepped on a mat before…this is for you.

Starting on Thursdays January 8th, I’m leading a six week Yoga for Beginner Series - an accessible entry point for anyone looking to build a sustainable practice. It’s designed to take the pressure off. We’ll be exploring yoga basics - breath, asana (physical poses), and meditation - with each week intentionally building on the last. By committing to all six weeks, you give yourself space to learn and grow into the practice alongside the same group of people, familiarizing yourself (or re-familiarizing yourself) with what makes yoga an essential wellness practice, for body and mind.

Thursdays January 8th-February 12th, 6-7 am at Bennetts Karate Dojo in Erie, CO

A weekly email “recap” along with bite size philosophy and practice to take into your week

A 15 minute yoga nidra for beginners audio recording, to listen to anytime

Do I need to bring anything to class?

Yourself, your mat, and a water bottle :)

My hope is that by the end of the 6 weeks, you will feel more at home on your mat and inspired to continue meeting yourself there.

In addition to this beginner series, I’m adding a Sunrise Flow class on Tuesdays from 6-7 am (starting January 13th), and have shifted my Sunday class back slightly (now 6-7 pm), turning it into a true restorative class. You can view my full weekly schedule here.
